Not a lot of nearby attractions. The campground consists of electric sites as well as two camper cabins. Linens, dishes and cooking utensils are not provided and daily housekeeping is not available. Here at Lake Hill campground, to provide for a safe and peaceful environment for all our guests, alcohol is not allowed. We do not have the bug yet and don’t want it. The money you may save bringing in your own firewood is tiny compared to the cost for us if we were to have to cut down all the Ash trees in the park that could become infested. We sell firewood at very reasonable prices and allow you to collect down wood in our woods. NO trees are to be cut down though. Pets are allowed at Campground, but me be leased at all times while outside and cleaned up after.
Pets are not allowed in any cabin or building or on the beach area for swimming. We do allow pets to swim on the back side of lake down below our basic cabins unless there are guests fishing there. Lake Hill is a 65 acre campground, 57 sites on 20 acres, with many options for accommodations:

Other small construction items were notable as well. So that’s a positive. The entrance to the park is a very steep decline that directs you straight at the Hocking River. Also, that particular part of the driveway had streams of running water eroding it in a heavy rain. Leaving isn’t as bad, but you still cannot just roll right out of this place.
Understanding that the RV park management cannot control the weather, they’ve gotta lotta work to do with regard to their land management. We ended up having to move our motorhome to ensure we did not sink or get stuck in the mud. Another family of campers moved to another “drier” campsite altogether. The sites didn’t appear to dry out all that well once the rain had left the area, either.

Yes, Hocking Hills is an outdoor-lover’s paradise. Shame on me, I know. Once I finally got there, I realized what all the hype was about — and knew that I definitely needed to share this corner of Ohio. The weather was already warm actually it was hot and humid already in southern Ohio!
Because, even though many people outside of Ohio don’t know about the Hocking Hills, it’s actually the most-visited state park in Ohio! If you’re planning your own trip to the Hocking Hills, here are some things you should definitely do there: Go for a hike Hiking is definitely the main draw of Hocking Hills thanks to the unique rock formations, caves, and forests that can be found throughout the park.
The park has six main hiking areas, with most of them centered around natural sandstone rock formations. Elliot and I weren’t up for any long hikes, but thankfully the most popular sites are easy to reach without hours of trekking. Our favorite short hikes included:

The Hocking Hills is the perfect Ohio destination for families, couples, reunions, and groups. A day trip or a weekend getaway, the hills are sure to please! Route 33 is regularly patrolled. The speed limit is 60 mph from Columbus to just south of the Speedway and McDonalds in Carrol, where it goes to 70 mph for about 15 miles before dropping back down to 60 mph. A few miles further on the left is a GoMart gas station and deli near the entrance to Canopy Tours.

Despite having traveled through Ohio countless times, our family has never actually vacationed there. Denisa and Mark visited Hocking Hills back in September of , and Denisa’s description of the Park, the hiking adventures they enjoyed there and the gorgeous photos they took were easily enough to convince me that this was a destination that needed to be added to my Bucket List.
But first, since I know just how intriguing all of their adventures are, I want you to promise that you’ll eventually come back! According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the Park contains over 2, acres that encompass towering cliffs, waterfalls and deep hemlock-shaded gorges. There are caves, also, and the scenery is just drop dead gorgeous. There are numerous hiking trails and two mountain bike trails. There are even over 30 miles of bridle trails in the adjacent Hocking State Forest for those with their own horses.
Picnicking, archery, hunting and fishing including ice fishing during the winter months are available in the Park. Heated showers, flush toilets, laundry facilities, a campground store, a swimming pool for registered campers, playgrounds, a volleyball court, a horseshoe pit and a dump station are available. In addition, the Park has 40 family housekeeping cabins that sleep up to 6 people. The cabins are gas-heated and air-conditioned with two bedrooms, a living room, a dining area, a complete kitchen including a microwave, a bathroom with a shower, a gas-burning fireplace and a screened porch.

Jun 29, · Hey everyone, I was wondering if anybody knew of any horse campgrounds in Hocking Hills, Ohio. We have gone to the state campground and we like it but it is a first come, first serve basis and primitive which can be an issue because I bring my dog with me and I don’t want him to get to hot in the trailer while I’m out riding since I can’t leave the generator running.
It was a rainy year so the trail down near the river was closed, but we rode most of the rest of the trails. My SO really likes trails where you can “get out and gait” while I like a lot of variety, and places where you can ride into caves and past waterfalls and stuff like that. We’re planning a trip to Big South Fork this year and will likely stay at Bandy this time. I’ve heard about Deam Lake from some other people as well.
Brown County, IN is also beautiful – big campground, good riding for a long weekend. The little park in Liberty, IN is a nice ride – short, but we often get there early, ride the loop in one direction, stop back at the trailer for lunch, then ride the loop in the opposite direction. I have heard some very positive things about the place called Elkins Creek in Ohio.
